Ashland is a rundown and dirty little town anyway. The only thing they have is a Ponderosa with a bunch of old hicks eating dinner and a bunch of old buildings.

We take care of our community ourselves. And there really is no sin in some author pointing that out. Maybe it will be a catalyst to help Ashland change, if they are actually trying to be a tourist destination.

Move on Ashlanders!! If so, they probably deserve a little ridicule, since they are surrounded by so many larger and more popular destinations. But if the author was just going through, saw the slogan and thought it was funny so included it in his book for fun, you all really ought to be thanking him for the free advertising.
Ashland needs a reality check- they have nothing to offer. We need to remove the train station from that hole in the ground in order to provide efficient service to the remainder of Richmond.
Ashland is full of snobby, arrogant idiots who think they are better than everyone else. Before I moved to Richmond I did the tourist thing in Ashland. Lasted about 20 minutes. I made the mistake of telling someone I was looking for a house in Ashland. Ashland certainly deserves to be on that list. Where are the the neat shops your talk about? Restaurants there are a couple but that is it.
